Baseball Division Rules
Major Division - Ages 13-14
1. Base length will be 80 feet, 113 feet from point of home plate to second base and/or first base to third base, 56 feet from the back of home plate to the edge of the pitching rubber.
2. Seven innings or 2 hours shall constitute a complete game.
If the umpire calls the game due to rain, darkness or other cause which makes further play impossible, a game shall be considered complete provided 5 innings have been played or 4 and one half innings have been played if the home team is ahead.
A ten-run lead constitutes a complete game at the end of 5 innings or 4 and one half innings if the home team is ahead. A fifteen run lead constitutes a complete game at the end of 4 innings or 3 and one half innings if the home team is ahead.
3. A pitcher may pitch a maximum of (7) innings in a two day period but no more than five innings per day. One pitch in an inning constitutes a full inning.
4. American League -- All players will bat regardless of whether or not they are in the field. Playing time in the field will determine compliance with Player Participation rule.
5. American League -- Each player shall play at least 3 of the first 5 innings in the field. In the event that a game is completed in less than 5 innings, players who did not get 3 innings of defensive play shall play the first 3 innings of the next game in the field. Players who have not shown up prior to the first pitch are excluded from this rule, but are still subject to Ken Berry General Rule #1 concerning player participation.
6. National League -- Extra Hitter (EH)
a. The team must declare its intent before the game starts. The EH may not be inserted in the lineup after the game starts.
b. When the EH is utilized, a coach may insert any 9 of the 10 players listed on the legal lineup in the field at any one time.
c. After the game has started, with the EH Rule in effect, a team may revert to a 9-position lineup only in the case of any injury of one of its players and an eligible substitute is not available. Note that the re-substitution rules are not enforceable in the case of an injury. The batting position of the injured player is eliminated at the time of the injury and the lineup reverts to a 9-poistion batting order. All such changes must be immediately reported to the umpire and official scorekeeper.
7. Metal spikes will be allowed in the National and American League.
8. For post-season tournament games in the winner's bracket finals, loser bracket finals and championships the run rule is extended to 15 runs after 5 innings or 7 innings with no time limit.
