Baseball Division Rules
Metro Division - Ages 15-18
1. Base length will be 90 feet, 60 feet 6 inches from back of home plate to front edge of pitching rubber, 127 feet 3 inches from point of home plate to second base or first to third base.
2. Seven innings or 2 hours shall constitute a complete game. If the umpire calls the game due to rain, darkness or other cause which makes further play impossible, a game shall be considered complete providing 5 innings have been player (4 and ½ if the home team is ahead). A ten run lead constitutes a complete game at the end of 5 innings (4 and ½ if the home team is ahead). A 15 run lead constitutes a complete game at the end of 4 innings (3 and ½ if the home team is ahead).
3. Metal spikes will be allowed.
4. Continues batting lineups will be used.
5. Only one automatic out must be taken in the batting order if a team is short of players, regardless of whether there are 7 or 8 player present.
7. Each player shall play at least 2 of the first 4 innings in the field. In the event that a game is completed in less than 4 innings, players who did not get 2 innings of defensive play shall play the first 2 innings of the next game in the field. Players who have not shown up prior to the first pitch are excluded from this rule but are still subject to Ken Berry General Rule #1 concerning player participation.
8. Each team will be allowed up to four (4) eighteen year old players. Eighteen year old players will NOT be allowed to pitch.
9. Roster limits for Metro Division will be 14 players. Complete rosters need to be turned in prior to first game. No roster additions allowed after the start of the season without baseball committee approval. Conditions that would merit roster additions would include player attrition due to player relocation or injury. Other situations would be reviewed by baseball committee on an individual basis. Players that leave a team for personal reasons would be interviewed along with team management. Roster additions under these circumstances would come from existing waiting list of Metro players. No one will be allowed to play for 2 different Metro teams during the regular season or the post season tournament.
10. There is NO draft for the Metro Division. If you are a player interested in playing in the Metro Division, but are not associated with a team, please contact the Division Representative.
11. Post season tournament games in the winners bracket finals, loser bracket finals and championships, the run rule is extended to 15 runs after 5 innings or 7 innings with no time limit.
12. A pitcher in the Metro division may only pitch 9 innings in one day and no more than 12 innings in a 48 hour period. One pitch in an inning will be considered a complete inning for the purpose of this rule.
13. A team in Metro may elect to play under current KSHSAA rules if they so desire for any game. They shall declare their intent to play under such rules to the plate umpire and the official scorekeeper prior to the start of the game. Once the game has begun they must continue to use KSHSAA rules until the game is complete.
14. The following exceptions to KSHSAA rules shall apply to any team that wishes to play under those rules at Ken Berry.
a. The 2 hour time limit shall apply to all games played.
b. The designated hitter rule shall not be used.
c. The official scorekeeper with the assistance of the plate umpire for the game shall be responsible for any line -up changes that are made during the game.
