Softball Division Rules
Metroette Division - Ages 15-18
Highlighted portions indicate a change in the rules for 2011.
There is NO draft in the Metroette Division. If you are a player looking for a team, contact the Division Representative. Although there are no guarantees, all attempts will be made to place you on a team.
KSHSAA Rules will govern all play, except as noted in General Rules and herein:
1. Seven innings or one hour and 20 minutes shall constitute a complete game.
If the game is called due to rain, darkness, or other cause which makes further play impossible, a game shall be considered complete provided 5 innings have been played or 4 ½ innings have been played if the home team is ahead.
There will be no pre-game infield practice.
2. Base length will be 60 feet. Pitching distance will be 43.
3. Each one-half inning is complete after three outs or nine (9) runs, whichever occurs first. EXCEPTION: All runs scored by a home run over the fence shall count.
4. Continuous batting lineups will be used.
5. Only one automatic out must be taken in the batting order if a team is short of players, regardless of whether there are 7 or 8 players present.
6. Players may be added to a team’s roster with Division Rep approval. Such players are required to sign the team roster, fill out an Individual Player Registration form for insurance purposes, and pay the $30 fund-raiser fee like all other players. This must all be turned in to the Division Rep or the on-duty Board Member prior to the player taking the field. Penalty for not doing so is forfeiture of all games that the illegal player participated in.
7. Post-season tournament games for winners bracket finals, loser bracket finals and championships shall be played a full seven (7) innings with no time limit.
8. The Metroette Division Rules will supersede any conflicting General Rules.
